DRIVE UP:
window down
phones hung up
Radio turned down
Avoid swearing
wait for greeting
PROPER RESPONSE TO GREETING
yes
no (note that "please" and "thanks" are not necessary for proper drive thru
order giving)
one moment
PLACING YOUR ORDER
how to speak
where to speak from
be aware of what you're ordering: ask questions before ordering the food
PLACING LARGE ORDERS
PULLING UP TO THE WINDOW
ACCEPTIBLE ATTIRE
Clothed: be dressed. If you were in the middle of some questionable acts in the car for whatever reason, end them and return to a proper dressed state before subjecting the drive thru personnell to your figure. Some of them ARE underaged.
ACCEPTED PAYMENT FORMS
cash: bills, preferably 20s and smaller: no rolls of coin
credit/debit cards, where applicable
CHANGES TO YOUR ORDER
Try to have entire order completed at the speaker. If you must change anything, make it minimal, the person you are talking to is likely taking another person's order as you are making changes/payment.
GETTING YOUR FOOD
1 window drive thru: wait patiently. Many places with 1 window systems, like Steak n Shake, make their food as it is ordered and may take up to 5 minutes to finish your order.
2 window drive thru: Say your thanks if you wish, and pull forward to the second window. The person who took your money is likely taking another order, and bothering them will distract them from hearing another person's order. This agitates both the order taker and the order giver, since the order will have to be repeated multiple times.
